Privacy And RFID

RFID is Radio Frequency Identification. It uses electromagnetic waves to communicate with the data. Data can be an object, animal or a person. It uses intelligent bar codes for identification. RFID is a very useful technology when it comes to the matter of privacy of oneself. RFID is used in tracking and identifying the details of people living in different parts of the world. RFID involves readers and labels for reading and tagging the identified data. An integrated circuit is provided in RFID to store and process the information, modulation and demodulation of the frequencies and for other such purposes. Antenna is used for the reception and transmission of signal. RFID technology is more used to impinge on people’s privacy. For example, in jails prisoners are fitted with tracking bracelets so as to watch out their doings inside and outside the premises. Likewise RFID tracking bracelets are used in some official purposes, where there is a huge amount of money transaction. This can help in reducing corruption. RFID’s are very small chips of the range in micros and its speed is very high. It’s expected to get even much more miniaturized in the coming technological advances.
But many times RFID is being considered as an invasion of privacy. A person does not like using this technology as they think that the personal things are going to be out. Persons who do not do anything wrong too does not support this technology as they feel it is not necessary to record everything going on. So they are not happy with this technological advancement of information technology. But Government is providing its full support on this issue as culprits can be easily identified, corruption can be reduced and privacy can be maintained in the higher sectors like banks, financial companies etc. The invention of RFID has become useful thus by leaving people to think hundred times before doing any kind of corruption.
