The privacy commission of UK has announced an internal investigation on Google. On Saturday the information commissioner’s office said it will re-open the investigation on Google because the privacy gaps or breaches of the firm were more intense than earlier reported.
Before in June also the metropolitan police of UK had introduced an investigation on Google for violating the rules of privacy ,the firm (Google) had involuntarily collected the data on wireless unsecured networks for its programs of street view maps when photo’ing streetscapes. This investigation started when a group of advocacy complained that an intervention of unencrypted records was not unintended.
Initially this investigation did not record any unlawful activity, in the light of the firms (Google) latest declaration that whole emails, URL’s and passwords were taken in some occasions, but the ICO has declared that it will re-examine data samples, it also has the power to inflict a fine of 500,000 pounds of privacy of the breaches, but this fine is yet not levied beneath the 6 month old law. It also indicated that it will mandate information from Google afore determining whether to fine or not.
The Google’s senior vice president of research and engineering Mr. Alan Eustace gave an apology on the firms blog and told that he did not know properly what info the firm had collected, when he had made the may declaration. Further the firm indicated that it will undertake essential alterations so that it can avoid the reappearance of such problems.
Countries like Australia, US, Canada and UK did an investigation on Google for its privacy breach over unintended collection of data from street view vehicles. For all this Google asked for an apology and it said it will not repeat it in future. But it is a big corporation with a lot of power, and power corrupts.
